After presenting himself as a capable electrician that was confident to complete an electrical overhaul of our electrics and solar installation on our catamaran, Robert Churchyard of Turaco Campers has actually left us in a worse position. After agreeing to the job, Robert began to drop off the radar and would miss deliverables, fail to answer calls and would not reply to correspondence. Time progressed with delayed excuses for non-performance. After 3 weeks I was left with almost no work done, besides the removal and testing of 6 batteries. The rest of the time he simply would not arrive on site or bother to explain why he was unable to make it. Robert was informed we needed to be at a certain point by a date as guests were arriving to stay with us. In the week leading up to their arrival, he simply went missing, leaving our cockpit full of equipment, batteries and solar panels - all which were promised to be in place before they arrived. No correspondence or communication and no items installed. He has further ignored calls and requests to refund amounts for materials billed for, but not supplied. He has also duplicated line items within his invoice and billed the same line item twice resulting in a +R13k over-billing. When this was raised, he acknowledged it, but claimed to not have the funds to repay it and that we will need to simply wait. This is more than 3 weeks after we made payment. Once again he will not answer correspondence to resolve this. Your experience may be different, but we found Robert Churchyard of Turaco Campers in Knysna to be extremely unprofessional, dishonest and a complete waste of time and money and will be lodging a case of theft and taking further action. After presenting himself as a capable electrician that was confident to complete an electrical overhaul of our electrics and solar installation on our catamaran, Robert Churchyard of Turaco Campers has actually left us in a worse position.
