CHRISTIAN ETHOS
The Wykeham Collegiate is a Christian school and there are three tenets to which the school subscribes: 'faith, hope and love'. It endorses the view expressed in 1 Corinthians 13:13 that 'the greatest of these is love'.
HISTORY
In 1878 Girls' Collegiate was founded in Pietermaritzburg as an 'Evangelical Protestant Day and Boarding School for Young Ladies" and in 1905 Wykeham School was established as an independent school for young women.
A decision to merge Girls' Collegiate and Wykeham School was made in 1988. The Wykeham Collegiate was officially opened in 1990 and quickly became recognised as one of the leading independent schools for girls in Africa.
With a focus was on academic studies, sport, music and drama, The Wykeham Collegiate continues to be at the cutting edge of educational initiative and the girls have achieved an impressive record in all these areas.
