Stone House Farmstay is only 15km from Barkly East, heading out toward Elliot. Situated below the tar road, look out for the stone and plank entrance with a massive white merino ram at the entrance.
Being a working farm guests can expect the usual farm activities, and one of the favourite activities for little ones to help feed the hansies in lambing season. Bring along your fishing gear, bicycle or bike and explore our beautiful mountains.
With good river frontage, within walking distance, from the cottage, the Langkloof river is full of wild rainbows. We also offer guided flyfishing, quite a lot of water and some good fishing in our area, guided fly fishing gets you to all the best spots.
Or use the cottage as your base and do some travelling and sightseeing in and about Barkly, Lady Grey, Rhodes. Barkly East is also known as “the little Switzerland” of South Africa with its lush scenery of green valleys and picturesque, rugged mountains.
The mountain streams are rich with life such as Smallmouth yellowfish and Rainbow trout that you can try your hand at catching. Striking river gorges, sandstone rock formations, and Bushmen Rock Paintings, Barkly is a rich colourful, beautiful, highland town. Whether you are passing through or spending a few days here - it’s worth it!
