Scottsville Family Clinic is a member of The Private Clinic Group based in Pietermaritzburg comprising of three Main Branches:

• BraidStreet Family Clinic
• Maritzburg Family Clinic

The Practice Manager, Reception & Administration Staff are here to help you make the best use of the services which we provide. They attend initial & continued training programmes in order to be able to provide an efficient & friendly service.

We welcome suggestions for improving our services. If you have any ideas, questions or complaints, please speak to our Practice Manager for the Branch.

Dr Aslaam Mohamed

M.B.Ch. B (Natal) D.A (S.A.) DIP.PEC (S.A.) MBA (Natal) PG. DIP. Mgt (Natal)

Qualified – MBCHB in 1990 at The University of Natal.

Dr. Mahomed did his Internship at Greys / Northdale Hospital in 1991.

In 1992 he successfully completed Diplomate in Faculty of Anaesthetics in The College of Medicine of South Africa.

In 1993 he stated Private General Practice, and today still does Private Casualty work at Mediclinic & St. Annes Casualty.

He obtained his Diploma in Primary emergency Care at The college of Medicine (SA) in 1998.

In 2001 he obtained his Post Graduate Diploma in Management at UKZN.

In 2003, he completed his MBA (Master of Business Administration) at the University of Natal.

Dr Phumelele Mbongwe

Graduate of University of Kwa-Zulu Natal (Nelson Mandela School of Medicine) 2008

Served 2009-2010 at Addington and Mahatma Ghandi hospital Then went on to serve at Rietvlei Hospital

• Paediatric Medical Officer
• Gynaecology and Obstetrics
• Surgical and Medical

In 2012 then left government sector to persue the private sector of which am a part of the Med24 group of doctors for St Annes hospital and Mediclinic til present.

Dr Ash Moopen

BDS (U.LKO), PG DIP (ENDO), PG DIP (DENT) U.STELL)

Dr Ash Moopen is a well experienced practitioner with twenty years of experience in private practice in Durban and has recently relocated to Pietermaritzburg. He has post graduate diplomas in Endodontics and Implantology from the University of Stellenbosch and is continuously updating his knowledge to stay current with new developments in the field of dentistry.

The motto that we follow is “Modern Painless Dentistry” with our slogan being “Gentle Dental” and this we strive to deliver to every patient we see. We are contracted in at scale of benefit to medical aids and offer cash discounts for cash settlements of accounts.
