ABOUT US
The Matrix Warehouse Computers concept was founded in 2000, in answer to the market need for a reliable computer shop. The shop opened amidst strong competition from other computer stores situated nearby, but within six months of opening it had achieved the highest turnover of all the computer stores in the area. In 2001 four new stores were opened and by 2003 a head office move to bigger premises was necessary to accommodate the number of containers imported each month.
In 2004 Matrix Warehouse decided to pursue the franchise route as its best option for ensuring personal involvement in every store and achieving its national growth objective. By keeping track with the many phases and changes in the personal computer market, Matrix Warehouse today boasts a national footprint of 82, stores making it the biggest privately owned group in South Africa. Matrix Warehouse prides itself on its value for money offering and outstanding support and service to the ever-growing market of personal computer users.
Concept
The Matrix Warehouse Group offers customers complete IT solutions. Franchise outlets conduct wholesale and retail distribution of complete PC units, accessories, PC components and software at highly competitive prices.
In addition to computer hardware and software, they offer networking, repairs, upgrades, new computers and complete IT solutions for home and business purposes. All components used are registered brand name products, ensuring a high standard of quality in the finished product and a below average failure rate on custom-built computers of less than 0.5 percent.
In its nationwide advertising campaigns Matrix Warehouse focuses on the end user as its target market. The potential target market served by Matrix Warehouse is vast as it includes anyone requiring a custom-built computer for either commercial or entertainment purposes.
Although Matrix Warehouse Computers functions on the principles of destination shopping, great care and circumspection are exercised in identifying suitable premises. Premises with relatively low rentals in respectable shopping centres with ample parking and visibility and well known addresses are favoured. At first, Matrix Warehouse focussed on smaller neighbourhood shopping centres for the establishment of retails stores. More recently, outlets have been established in larger centres with great success and the site selection criteria have been revised accordingly.
A typical Matrix Warehouse retail shop will employ three to five staff members.
Support
The Matrix Warehouse head office employs a team of knowledgeable staff members who lend their wealth of experience and expertise to assisting franchisees in running their businesses.
The franchisor provides franchisees with full training in respect of its products, including technical aspects as well as marketing techniques, management and technical skills. The initial training is conducted over 28 days at the Matrix Warehouse head office.
To ensure that franchisees receive the benefit of bulk buying prices, the franchisor acquires stock on behalf of franchisees from both local and international suppliers. Stock items are then distributed to franchisees from the centralised warehouse. Matrix Warehouse head office also assembles computer units for distribution by franchisees. In an industry that lends itself primarily to destination shopping, consistent advertising is a must. The company consistently engages in advertising promotions that highlights the company’s value for money offering and raises brand awareness.
