Spoke to the Manager and they only showed me video clips of when I drove off. After rethinking this incident last night (when I was less stressed out) I now must insist on the video clips of when my car was handled at the pump by the attendant.
My belief is that when he asked me to open the cap (as my car is always locked) he was already pulling at the lid and when I opened it from the inside he pulled too hard and pulled the clips off which holds the lid in place. thus breaking it off
After he filled the car he pushed it back in but as the agent explained to me this morning, if its no longer connected with the clips holding the lid in place the electronics on locking the doors wont work anyway
I was unaware of this, locked my doors before I drove off but barely away from the pumps when I went over the speed bump the lid fell of unbeknown to me off course or else I would have stopped.
This part of my car was in place before I arrived.....Bottom line is that Longmeadow One Stop is responsible for the damages and must pay for the new part and repairs and I will take this matter further
Looks like from now on I will have to get out the car when filling up with fuel and supervise that as well
I sure hope they come to the table.
Just be more alert when you have your cars filled up not just here but at any filling station
I had a very unpleasant experience yesterday after filling up with fuel. Went back to the station after realizing the damages to my car when I reached my office (confirmed through the agents it will cost me in excess of R5000 to repair. That's for the new petrol tank lid, spray painting into the colour of my car and having it fitted).
