A Bitter Experience That Left Us Sour, but Saved by a Sweet Soul! My friend and I were craving something indulgently sweet and decided to visit Insleep in Potchefstroom for a chocolate milkshake. The highlight of our visit? The absolute gem of a cashier! She’s kind, attentive, and honestly a reason to return—purely to support her. But the rest of the experience? Let me spill the tea (or should I say, the milk?). We ordered our chocolate milkshakes and were excited to enjoy them, but the moment we took a sip, we were hit with a sour taste that no chocolate should ever have! Both milkshakes tasted off, so we returned them, hoping for a quick fix. The lovely cashier immediately flagged it to the kitchen staff, but that’s when things went south. The kitchen attendant insisted the milk was fresh, but her facial expression betrayed her as soon as she tasted it. Several others tried the milk and all had the same reaction. Still, the management seemed indifferent, offering no refund but agreeing to remake the drinks. However, they bizarrely asked me to personally pick a milk carton from their fridge to ensure it was fresh—how is that my job? Eventually, they fetched a new carton of milk, remade the drinks, and used the same syrup they previously claimed was “sour.” Unsurprisingly, the result was still unpleasant, indicating that something else—likely expired ingredients—was to blame. After a few sips, I felt nauseous, and my sensitive stomach has been unsettled since. In light of recent events in South Africa, where expired goods have become a major concern for consumers, the government has established a free hotline to report establishments serving expired or spoiled products. This issue is now in the public eye, and businesses must be held accountable to ensure consumer safety. While I decided not to escalate things by reporting the incident immediately, the thought crossed my mind, especially after discovering similar complaints on Google reviews about expired or off-tasting products at this establishment. For now, the only redeeming factor remains the stellar cashier. But as for the rest? Insleep, it’s time to wake up and fix this.A Bitter Experience That Left Us Sour, but Saved by a Sweet Soul!
