ABOUT US

The Lodge

Imbabala Lodge is approximately 4 hours from Johannesburg and 2 hours from Durban. The lodge is situated alongside the beautiful Thukela Biosphere just off the R74 about half way between the towns of Weenen and Greytown in the KwaZulu Natal Midlands and just a stone’s throw away from the Midlands Meander and the historic Battle Fields. The venue is yours to share for the day or a week.

Imbabala Lodge is tucked away in the bush with a spectacular view over the bushveld and of Mt. Moriah to the west. Imbabala boasts a large variety of game including giraffe, nyala, bushbuck, zebra and several other species which gather in the grassland close to the lodge at sunset.

Imbabala Lodge offers the perfect remote getaway weekend whether you want to do 4 x 4 trails, motor biking or quading, cycling or just want to escape everyday pressures.

Activities

• Riding

We have approximately 100 km of the best quad and bike trails in Natal. 20km of this is enduro track, which is in the immediate vicinity of the lodge. We have supervised trails that go over Mt Moriah. On our trails, you will encounter all the challenging obstacles usually sought out by enduro riders, from technical to advanced riding including many kilometers of riverbeds, inclines, loose rocks, ramps, jumps and mud. These are grueling rides, which are to be enjoyed by expert or novice!

Hunting

Imbabala holds a permit for both rifle- and bow-hunting throughout the year. Imbabala supports controlled hunting based on the rules of The Professional Hunter's Association of South Africa. Professional hunting guides are available, as well as slaughtering and refrigeration facilities.

Facilities

A restaurant and authentic bush pub with sweeping views of the surrounding bushveld are situated between the rondavels and chalets. Wholesome home-style meals are served at the restaurant with the traditional Saturday evening braai.

• Conferences

Imbabala can host small executive conferences. Our venue is fully equipped with data projector and screen and can accommodate up to 24 delegates boardroom style and 40 delegates cinema style.

• Weddings

Imbabala offers a stunning wedding venue, for that ultimate bush wedding. The Lodge has the facilities and setting ideally suited to smaller intimate weddings and can accommodate 45 guests. For a memorable occasion, there are a range of options from a bush-style reception or a candlelight smarter affair. We offer budget friendly packages.

• Functions

Imbabala Lodge offers an ideal environment to celebrate birthdays, wedding anniversaries or any special occasion.

Accommodation

We have seven self-catering chalets; five which sleeps five people; comprising two bedrooms – one with a double and the other with three single beds (two of these chalets can have an additional single bed added, if required). The other two chalets have a double and one single bed, ideal for families with small children.

There is a fully equipped kitchen with ample cutlery, crockery and a Weber braai.

We also have two rondavels ideal for couples – these are not self catering but tea and coffee facilities are available.

Our “bunk-style” rondavel is suited for larger groups, which sleeps nine people with three single beds and three double bunks.

All the chalets/rondavels are fully equipped with bedding, towels for showering and soap. Swimming towels can also be provided on request. Cleaning services are available at an additional fee per day.
