I phoned Hartwig and Henderson early this month after I noticed my panic system were not working. They first sent a technician who seemed to be inexperienced. Couldn't fix the problem though he came twice. Won't blame anyone for being inexperienced, but the problem is they come without informing. That is even after I phoned the office and told them they must inform me and fix a time to come.
After two days, they sent a senior technician. He came and put a battery in my hands and told me he has replaced my old battery and it must remain between me and him because he is not going to charge me for it! Then he asked me for my PIN. Though confused, I gave him my PIN. When he said he is done, I told him I want to reset my PIN, to which he burst into a big laughter and told my wife, "Your husband doesn''t trust me with the PIN." I told him, it is a confidential matter and I don't need to trust anyone outside my family with my PIN.
That evening when the load shedding started, the whole supply to the panel went off. I couldn't arm the house.
This technician came back the next day. He changed the battery (the additional battery which was installed to give longer battery life) and said he will charge me this time.
I got very confused. I went to H&H office in Berea and reported the matter to Tracy who works in accounts. She told me it is normal for the technicians to ask for the PIN. Also told me that the matter is being investigated. Even promised not to charge for the 2nd battery that was changed. All these were oral conversations. I just thought I will put this on record. Do not really mean to damage anyone's reputation. I phoned Hartwig and Henderson early this month after I noticed my panic system were not working.
