I purchased a curved 49" Samsung UHD TV on Black Friday (207-11-24) at the Bay West store in Port Elizabeth. I was only able to assemble the TV on the Saturday so when I switched the TV on we noticed that it was damaged. The TV was then packed back into the box and returned to Dion Wired on Sunday morning where I was told that they would need to assess for customer negligence. I told them that I had a clear conscious that I followed the instructions explicitly and did not damage the TV in any way. I’ve been in the IT field for more than 20 years and I would know how to handle a screen. They said that they would notify me within 7 working days. I asked them if they may have caused the damage when they put the TV back in the box, they replied saying that they cannot say for sure, but the video would show if they damaged it. I received a call on Tuesday the 28th of November notifying me that the assessment company says that the damage is due to customer negligence only to find out that this wasn’t actually my TV but another customer. my TV hadn’t even been assessed as yet. It makes me worry that there is another dissatisfied customer that recently bought a TV from Dion Wired at Bay West. Long story short I was contacted on Thursday again after making numerous calls following up with them that the assessment company said that they think the damage is due to the customer tightening the screws to tight when assembling the base to the TV. Surely you need to make sure the base is properly fastened. Nowhere in the instructions does it say do not fasten too tightly. To say that I’m highly unhappy and disgusted with Dion Wired is actually very much an understatement. I’m in the process of lodging a dispute claim against Dion Wired under the Consumer Guarantees Act.I purchased a curved 49" Samsung UHD TV on Black Friday (207-11-24) at the Bay West store in Port Elizabeth.
