Good day
i would like to report that your staff manning the gate at King Edward hospital are so incompetent. We arrived at the hospital at 11:36 to drop off items for a mother(patient ) who gave birth yesterday and lost one of her babies. The mother had no clothing items for the baby . We were told that visiting hours are at 13h00 and should we wish to drop off we need to call the maternity ward and request for them to give authorization at the main gate , which we did. We asked the Mr Cele (security guard) if maternity had called her said NO. We then continued waiting until the mother (patient) came down herself to collect her bags. She was in a very bad state and could barely walk - she decided to sit on the chair that was unoccupied against the wall and was told by one of the lady... Read more »

Upon arriving at the main gate, the security manning the gate advised that we have to wait due to my uncle not being discharged as yet (which was incorrect).
The security wanted to force us to have my uncle be picked up at the staircase - my uncle couldn't walk and needed the assistance of a wheelchair.
I repeatedly advised the security that the nursing sister advised us that my uncle was indeed discharged and that we could park inside the main gate to pick him up; the security refused us entry with the vehicle, stating that there was no parking inside.
After a number of phone calls to the nursing sister, the security reluctantly allowed my mom to enter the gate (on foot) while I had to wait in the road - my mom had to battle to get my uncle to the main gate, as I couldn't risk leaving the car parked in the road where it could be stolen. I then managed to pick my uncle up at the Main gate.
Upon entering the premises, my mom saw that the parking was indeed empty - the security just refused us to enter with the vehicle.
My uncle advised me that my gran had to pay the security in order to access the main gate via a car - SINCE WHEN DOES A HOSPITAL CHARGE AN ENTRY FEE? (Sounds more like a bribe).
The security manning the gate was rude and didn't care about patients battling to get to the vehicles. My uncle was a patient at King Edward VIII Hospital - we were contacted to pick him up due to him being discharged.
