We paid a deposit on the 28th January of R1000 and on the 24th February we made another payment of R1500. Total paid currently R2500. Leaving us with a current balance of R5000. Unfortunately my partner has lost her job at the end of February, and we are unable to continue payments towards the lay buy. I have called the store last week to inform them that we are unable to take the lay buy due to our current financial situation, I spoke the sales consultant whom we dealt with for the lay buy, she told me to call back on thursday as her boss was not in-store.
I called on thursday morning, which I got to speak to the store owner and I also explained to him our financial situation. I asked him if we could perhaps take another outfit for the value of R2500 of what we have already paid, as we cannot afford to continue with the lay buy. As I didnt want to ask for a refund. He told me that I must speak to the sales consultant whom I dealt with, and she was not in and had to call back the friday, which i did. The owner refused to assist me in any way, which is very unprofessional as he wants to shy away from the matter and have his sales consultant deal with it.
When I called back on friday I spoke to the lady again and told her that we cannot afford to pay the balance for the outfit and if they could assist by giving us something to the price that we have already paid, she didn't give me an answer. She said she wants to speak to my girlfriend, so on saturday we personally went to the store and spoke to the sales consultant. The owner was in store but refused to see to us, and told the sales consultant to take us to the back. She told us that we cannot take another outift for the amount that has been paid, as "that is not the store policy" so we asked her for our money back which they have refused to give us. We told them that we know our rights as consumers and she insisted that they cannot help us and the R2500 we paid will be forfeited according to their store policy. There is no written terms and conditions of whatsoever they speak of.
My partner and I did a lay buy with an Indian Clothing store in Mount Edgecombe, Durban (Bombay Boutique) for a bridal outfit on the 28th January. The total cost of the outfit was R7500, the owner and sales assistant said we can pay any amount we like monthly and as a deposit, til the end of May which was the term given for the lay buy.
