ABOUT US
Over the last seven years we’ve grown from a R60K startup to a company with hundreds of millions of rto invest in our vision.
We've incubated thousands of entrepreneurs and positively impacted the lives of thousands of people. We've been recognised internationally by the Echoing Green Foundation and the Clinton Global Initiative, and locally by institutions such as Discovery, and the South African Government, and individuals such as Archbishop Tutu and Nku Nyembezi-Heita.
We’re using entrepreneurship to build the world we all want to live in…a fair country, in which everyone has the opportunity to realise their potential.
All reasonable steps are taken to ensure that all entrepreneurial advice provided on the Awethu Project’s social media pages is accurate and up-to-date. The Awethu Project does not, however, warrant that the content or entrepreneurial advice is always accurate, complete and/ or current. Use and application of the entrepreneurial advice from the Awethu Project is, as such, at the recipient’s own risk, so that the recipient of such entrepreneurial advice assumes full responsibility for the risk or loss resulting from his/ her use of advice so given and his/ her reliance on such advice.

WHAT WE DO
- We make equity investments in fast-growing suppliers of Top 100 companies
- We support investees to ensure that they grow and that their growth is funded, that they remain transformed in the spirit of true transformation, and that they deliver on their commitments
HOW DOES IT WORK?
- Awethu is a Black Private Equity Fund Manager, a special designation in the DTI’s B-BBEE Codes
- Funds managed by Awethu are considered 100% Black-owned
- Awethu’s investments enable investees to avoid diluting their B-BBEE status in order to secure growth capital
- Awethu also assists investees to transform across all elements of the B-BBEE Scorecard, which is often an issue for Black-owned QSEs when they become Generics
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
- Grow your business with the patient capital Awethu provides
- Avoid dilution of your B-BBEE credentials
- Grow your business through the access to markets and post-investment support that Awethu provides
Transformation Investment
Are you a White-owned business in the supply chain of a Top 100 corporate, looking for a B-BBEE partner, growth capital, and support?
WHAT WE DO
- We make equity investments in fast-growing suppliers of Top 100 companies
- We support investees to ensure that they achieve true transformation; that they grow and their growth is funded; and that they deliver on their commitments
HOW DOES IT WORK?
- Awethu is a Black Private Equity Fund Manager, a special designation in the DTI’s B-BBEE Codes
- Funds managed by Awethu are considered 100% Black-owned
- Awethu’s investments enable investees to immediately benefit from being 51% Black-owned
- Awethu also ensures that suppliers ultimately transform across all elements of the B-BBEE Scorecard, in the spirit of true transformation - for example, investees must recruit or promote a “Black Entrepreneur” to lead a business function and apprentice the CEO. This individual will be supported by Awethu and will earn equity in the business through performance
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?
- Realise an immediate return on the effort you’ve invested in your business
- Continue to build your business for the future, by developing a hand-picked Black Entrepreneur as your successor
- Grow your business with the patient capital Awethu provides
- Grow your business with your enhanced transformation credentials
- Grow your business through the access to markets and post-investment support that Awethu provides
Transformation Acquisition

- These Entrepreneurs are immediately responsible for running a function of the business, in addition to apprenticing the CEO
